Foraging, Ethnobotany and Plant ID Walk
Saturday, 4th May 2024
A seasonal plant ID walk to take a look at the native, urban and often overlooked plants. We will have just had the May Day or Beltane, which in the ancient Celtic calendar was a time for planting out, blossoms and daring to think summer weather is just round the corner. We will cover plant and tree ID features, historical uses often stretching back to paleolithic times, folklore and more common uses of plants such as weaving, dyes, foods and medicines.
Families welcome! Under 12s are free, though we would ask that they are supervised as this is not aimed at young children.
Please wear appropriate clothing for being outdoors in May – it could be cold, it could pour with rain or it could be baking hot and we might need hats and sunscreen (let’s hope for the latter).
