Therapeutic Gardening at Cody Dock

Come along and see how connecting with nature by participating in therapeutic gardening activities in a peaceful environment can improve your mental and physical health and general well-being.

At Cody Dock we are offering weekly 2.5 hour sessions for individuals in blocks of 6 week courses. You can be referred by a professional or you can refer yourself.

Participation in gardening/arts and crafts activities (with the objective of improving participants’ mental and physical health and their general well-being), will help to reduce depression, isolation, loneliness and anxiety as well as increase self-confidence, boost mood and may lead to other significant changes and opportunities both at Cody Dock and beyond.

The focus for the sessions will be engagement with nature and the environment as well as understanding biodiversity and climate change. A key element of the sessions will be connecting with each other as well as with nature.

No previous gardening experience or knowledge is needed just some interest and a willingness to engage with the activities and with social prescribing.

Participation in therapeutic gardening activities can have huge benefits for a wide range of people. If you are wondering whether this project is a good match for you or someone you are working with as a professional, please get in touch. Email [email protected] or phone 020 7473 0429.

Tools, gloves, materials, tea/coffee and guidance will be provided. Growers will be using the new Growing Space, designed by architecture students from the University of Westminster so if it rains there will be somewhere warm to meet.
