We have opportunities across a number of projects on our site that will give your group a satisfying and rewarding day of activity. We want to ensure that everyone feels comfortable with what they are doing; the important thing being that whilst your staff are carrying out tasks that will benefit our project, they are also having a good time and feel totally engaged with what they are doing.

Tasks are fully risk assessed and supervised and are suitable for all levels of ability. We have full public liability insurance in place. We are also happy to come to your workplace to talk to your staff about our project and the benefits of volunteering their time with us

We can accommodate groups of varying sizes although we would recommend a minimum size of 10 people and a maximum of 35. However, we have some flexibility with this. To find out more, book a date or to discuss your requirements please contact our Engagement Team by emailing [email protected] or calling 020 7473 0429 for a chat.

We charge £40 per head which covers materials, equipment, PPE (gloves etc). project planning, site visits, risk assessment and supervision throughout the day.

We can also provide a home cooked hearty lunch for £12 per head and why not finish off the day relaxing with a drink from our bar?

Below is a breakdown of the various tasks we have followed by a calendar of particular dates where we would welcome groups to help with a variety of activities. Outside of these dates we may be able to accommodate groups so please get in touch so we can plan your day to suit you.

Community Boat Restoration

We are in the process of stripping back and restoring our community boat – The River Princess. We are hoping that we will get the boat back into the water later this year so that it can be used to take local school children on educational trips along the River Lea – teaching them about the river – its history, the ecology and environment – from the vantage point of the river itself. It will also serve as an events space for hire and use by local groups and individuals as well as those further afield who wish to experience the Lea and the area it runs through.

Tasks involve stripping back surfaces, painting and general maintenance tasks. Volunteers with any experience in carpentry, electrics or plumbing particularly welcome!

Gardening activities across our site

Our gardens are a firm favourite with the local community who value the green space tucked within a hugely industrial area beside the River Lea.

We have 3 gardens which require watering, re-seeding, weeding, turning over, new planting and general maintenance activities.

Linked to our gardening offer there will also be opportunities to support a variety of landscaping projects.

Our Wild About the Crescent project to ‘green up’ the area surrounding our site is entering its second year. The Dock sits within a business park which is grey, industrial and suffering from a lack of pride. We are looking to transform this grey in to a haven of wild planting, habitat creation, benches, hanging baskets and signage showing what plants and animals are here.

New areas of our site are also being developed to provide environmental areas and habitats

General construction activities

There are lots of opportunities to get creative using hand tools, power tools and a little bit of creativity. Volunteers can help us with simple construction activities including new planters, seating and shelters, a new footpath and we are planning to create a bee hive area.
