Gardens and green spaces are essential places for respite for people and wildlife.
However, so often these two priorities are framed as being incompatible, that one cannot exist without compromising the other.
Join us for a discussion on examples of gardens can be powerful spaces benefitting people AND wildlife with Cody Dock’s resident Biodiversity Officers, and champions from the biodiverse and ecological gardening movements.
This session is open to anyone concerned by the biodiversity crisis and includes examples of ways green spaces can help, whether or not you have a garden!

Nemone Mercer of Core Landscapes
Core Landscapes started in 2009 and has moved 4 times across 3 boroughs since then. Now firmly rooted in Hackney Nemone explains how the project’s supported both wildlife and people throughout its development, upcycling, recycling, and repurposing along the way.

Community Gardening for Biodiversity
Benny Hawksbee of Eden Nature Garden
Entering his tenth year looking after the Eden Nature Garden in Clapham, Benny shares the tales and discoveries of the space, whilst highlighting the crucial involvement of the community.

- Cody Dock is a 6 minute walk from Star Lane DLR Station. The DLR is a fully accessible public transport network with step-free access into all stations. Use the Stephenson Street exit from Star Lane station (the exit to the left) when departing from the platform.
- Cody Dock is a 4 minute walk to the 323 bus stops (South Crescent Business Centre (Stop H) and North Crescent Business Centre (Stop J).
