Discover Common Threads by Remiiya Badru, the first exhibition in our newly opened gallery space!
18th September – 6th November 2026
Free entry
Working on a year-long commission in collaboration with the V & A East and the communities of Cody Dock, Remiiya Badru has woven stories from present and past into Calico and prussian blue forgotten fabric, to produce a textile response exploring the ric, local history of this fabric & pigment.
These clothes and garments dress the inside of the building, transforming the space into a symbol of community, tracing stories of local people, trading history and industry.
Common Threads explores the history of Calico and Prussian Blue in the area, its influence on the global and local textile trade.
Our new Gallery features the inverted Frederick Boat Kitchen as its roof. The Frederick Boat Kitchen was built in 1913 in the Docks and was rescued and restored by our team. With its heritage, the boat perfectly encases Remiiya’s exhibition and carries us with our past and present stories.
The exhibition is free and open to the public.
