🌿Join us to help identify and record the various trees at Cody Dock!🌳
Tuesday, July 21st – 10:30 am
Free events
We are looking for volunteers to help us identify and survey the trees growing throughout the woodland pockets of Cody Dock and the surrounding industrial estate! 📍📊
We are creating our own map of all of the trees in the local area, which will help us monitor what is currently growing, its condition as well as advise on how to increase habitat connectivity of these precious woodlands, and we need your help to do this. 🗺️
So come help develop your tree identification skills, surveying techniques and help map the extent of tree coverage in Newham!✨
🌸What the volunteering opportunity will involve:
A walking survey session around Cody Dock and the surrounding industrial site’s areas of woodland, learning what trees are growing.
Tree identification using keys for UK species and selected others we find.
Learning basic surveying techniques and how to assess the condition of trees.
Learning basic survey techniques for bat roosting potential.
The creation of environmental data so we can map and keep track on the health and upkeep of the trees by local authorities
There are multiple sessions available and each date we will survey a different bloc. More dates will also be added later
