Ecological volunteering

The ecology and environment around us are very precious to the whole community in and around Cody Dock. This once derelict and rubbish-filled space has been transformed thanks to armies of volunteers getting stuck in to clean it up and turn it into the place you see today; removing the rubbish whilst preserving the nature that existed amongst it. That story continues with lots of opportunities here for volunteers to try their hand at a wide range of ecological tasks with activities suitable for all abilities.

Our lovely in bloom award-winning gardens provide the perfect setting for some social gardening each Wednesday and Saturday as well as providing rewarding tasks for groups here on corporate volunteer days.

If donning a pair of waders and getting in to the water is your thing then we have our reed beds to manage and maintain.

There are always plenty of chances to take part in clean up days on the site or on the Crescent outside our gate as part of our Wild About the Crescent project. Here, volunteers can get involved  in organised litter picks, cutting back of overgrown vegetation, habitat creation and planting days to help create a nicer physical environment for all those working in or visiting the area

We also want to keep a close eye at the environment that surrounds us so come and help us map out and monitor the local wildlife. environment and habitats as part of our ecological survey work.
